I bought a new/old 1986 Mercedes 560sl. It was my dream car (107 chassis) since I was a young boy.
I took it to a general mechanic (wrong.) He said it was great and recommended $2000.00 of driving enhancement service.
The car is from 1986! What I needed was someone who wasn't going to blow smoke at me.
Dave is a gentleman. There is no absent owner here. Like straight talk? The kind of information that wont leave you by the side of the road? Dave put it to me straight. Not like your son crashed the car and tells you what happened. Straight talk.
It gets better. Rick prioritized, worked with my budget to make me safe.
The next stage of my restoration is a plan not a pipe dream: costs, timeline, parts.
Gentleman, you have earned my business. A fair price for the best service.
What is this other banter about "billing every minute" for work done? Who works for free? 100% recommended.
As yelp says, "5 (Woohoo! As good as it gets!)
Best to your honor,

I've been meaning to post something here for ages. Dave, Rick and the rest of the Benz Den gang are by far the most knowledgeable and friendly privately operated Mercedes Benz service techs in the greater Boston area. They've been keeping my 1984 300 SD (300K mi engine, 200K mi body), alive and running for the last 5 years and I can't speak highly enough of their knowledge, maintenance and repair standards and all around work ethic. You may pay a little more than the average foreign motors repair shop, you will definitely pay less than a dealer and either way, you will get better service overall. I judge a mechanic by the number of times I have to return for the same repair. So far, that's the only zero I can associate with The Benz Den - the rest are all 10's. (This is a real non-subsidized posting, contact me directly if you want specifics/testimonials).

I've been going to the Benz Den off Rte 2 in Belmont just over the Arlington line for 2 cars worth of my life - an 89 BMW 535i and now a 2004 Benz C320. It's a good place - not cheap, but they do good work.
Take my advice from experience also: if you're buying a German (aka: complicated, unusual, expensive machine) car, don't have it checked out at the corner gas station. Go to these guys. You can bring your car to the corner place for certain things -- but in other areas run away from a shop if, for example, they think that a tranny fluid change simply involves dumping the fluid in and changing the filter...or that an oil change is as simple on a benz as 'add synthetic oil and any new filter spec'ed for the car'.
If you own a German car and live near them, it's the logical choice and I think you'll be happy with your decision. The owners do a good job and specialize in what they specialize in. When I asked 'will you guys work on a Saab if a buy one?' They declined - and I respect them for it.
So why 4 stars instead of 5? - the labor rate is high, but it's still better value than the dealer. Also, they get things done correctly - and that means $$$ once is better than $$ done twice.
I put this in to give you an idea of a normal, middle income guy who uses this place when I have to. I don't have any financial relationship with them or yell-p.
Cheers - enjoy your German car - do get it checked out before you buy for least stress!

I have a 77 SL 450 and have been taking it here for about a year, which is as long as I have owned it.
They are super nice, fast, reliable, and knowledgeable. They spend a lot of time answering my zillions of questions.
Upkeep on a vintage car is expensive on it's own and I have only had this car, so I can't speak to how expensive they are in comparison to other mechanics who specialize in Mercedes Benz.
They hands down know every single detail about my car. I am thankful for them, but a customer rewards program might be a good idea. Free tshirt after you spend $3k. Just kidding.

Simply the best MB service in MA I have been a loyal customer of the Benz Den for nearly fifteen years and I have nothing but the highest praise for Dave and crew. I have owned a number of MB models and each has been lovingly cared for by the Benz Den. I live in Wrentham, so traveling more than 50 miles for service should say A LOT. I have never been unhappy with any of their work, quite frankly on more than one occasion they went beyond what would be considered reasonable to convenience my schedule and budget. Their work is first-rate, their diagnoses are sound and their pricing is more than fair.

17 years of 5-Star Service I can't think of a time when I was disappointed with the service I've received at the Benz Den. They have taken meticulous care of every MB vehicle I've owned, and if I could bring my other cars models to them, I would in a heartbeat. They have always provided me with detailed explanations and the up-front costs for any work they've recommended. And many times they've given me a heads-up to work that will need to be completed in the future so that I can plan my repair bills.
They're particularly skilled and cost-efficient at troubleshooting hard-to-diagnose issues. In fact, several times, they've identified the source and solution for problems that multiple trips to the MB authorized dealer (while under warranty) were unable to solve. (I'll never forget the expression on the Repair Manager's face when the mechanic concurred with the Benz Den assessment!)
Five stars? I'd give then more if I could.

Best Mercedes Service in Boston Area I have owned a Mercedes all my life and when I was in NJ, I used a mechanic that was trained by Mercedes in Germany. After moving to Mass. and being disappointed by two dealership service shops I was lucky to find The Benz Den. They do all my regular service and maintenance. It's such a pleasure to get the car back and know that it's fixed right the first time. They are extremely knowledgeable. Prices are very reasonable. They even try to talk me out of certain things they believe are not worth the money. They are as honest as the day is long. I recommend these guys to anyone who needs a mechanic and wants to feel confident about the work that's been done.

The guys at the Benz Den are great! I have a first model year ML320 and it's of that age where lots of stuff is starting to go wrong. When we first got it we had taken it to Herb Chambers for a few things and couldn't believe how expensive it was. After looking around I had an opportunity to ask one of the Tappet Brothers (if you're not a Car Talk fan you should be) and this is the place they recommended.
I never feel like I'm being mislead by anything they say and they'll always take the time to answer any questions I have about the information. Even my wife has remarked that she can't believe that they can make her understand why the catalytic converter needs to be replaced!
The mechanic who worked on the car before it moved to Boston is a family friend and anything I've ever asked him based on info from the Benz Den guys has checked out 100%.
Just recently we needed the car for an out of town trip on a Sunday. We called about a check engine light on Thurs., were seen on Friday morning, and at 6pm Friday night I picked up my repaired vehicle. And this isn't the only jam they've helped get me out of.
In summary, I wholeheartedly endorse the Benz Den and thank god that they're around when car breaks.... now to go flame my Mercedes... where is that page?
